She put on the royal regalia, rallied the retreating Egyptian troops, and took absolute command of the military forces of Upper Egypt. She protected the borders, put down rebellions in the south, and personally organized the logistics for the final war of liberation, which was eventually completed by her younger son, Ahmose I.
